OF A MORE LIKELY INDEPENDENT MIGRANT
Independent migrants are selected on the
basis of their education, skills and work experience, and who are likely to
contribute to the Australian economy and they are point-tested. They are not
sponsored by employer or relative in
You will stand a better chance if you meet a
combination of the following criteria (and a better chance of getting higher
points), in the order of importance:
1.
If your nominated
occupation is in demand and your qualification is acceptable and approved. The

Network Security, Computing Professional – specializing in SAP, Computing
Professional – specializing in SIEBEL, Mining Engineer (excluding Petroleum),
Occupational Therapist, Petroleum Engineer,
Medical –
Anaesthetist, Dental Specialist, Dentist, Dermatologist, Emergency
Medicine Specialist, General Medical
Practitioners, Hospital Pharmacist, Medical Diagnostic Radiographer, Nuclear Medicine
Technologist, Obstetrician and Gynaecologists, Opthalmologist, Paediatricians, Pathologist, Physiotherapist,
Podiatrist, Psychiatrist, Radiation Therapist, Radiologist, Registered Mental
Health Nurse, Registered Midwife, Registerned Nurse, Retail Pharmcist, Specialist Medical Practitioners (nec), Specialist Physician, Speech Pathologist, Sonographer, Surgeon.

2. If you have an equivalent of an Australian
qualification, or skills assessed to be equivalent to the Australian standards
in the following classes of occupations (must be on the current Skills
Occupation List (SOL) put out by DIMA from time to time):
a) Managers and Administrators -
(Fill up our Migration Assessment Form and we will
match your background to the most appropriate 'nominated occupation' on this
list).
b) Professionals - (Fill up our Migration Assessment Form and we will match your
background to the most appropriate 'nominated occupation' on the list).
c) Associate Professionals - (Fill up
our Migration Assessment Form and we will match your
background to the most appropriate 'nominated occupation' on the list).
d) Trade or Technical - Some of these
are: Apparel Cutter, Automotive Electrician, Baker, Binder and Finisher,
Blacksmith, Bricklayer, Business Machine Mechanic, Butcher, Cabinetmaker, Cable
Jointer, Carpenter, Communications Lineperson, Confectioner, Cook, Dressmaker,
Electrician, Electronic Tradesperson, Engraver, Fitter, General Plumber, Hairdresser,
Jeweller, Jointer, Locksmith, Shoemaker, Signwriter and a lot of other
tradespersons (to obtain more, fill in our Migration
Assessment Form and we will match your qualification with the appropriate
trade).
3. If you have an Australian Qualification.
4. If you have acquired an Australian
Qualification within 6 months of completing the course. Overseas students
who just completed their courses have an advantage to apply, but application
has to be submitted before the expiry of the 6 months from date of completion
of course.
5. If your spouse is also qualified in one of the
occupation in the SOL.
